Bible Study #8- “How to Face Your Fears” Read II Timothy 1:7
Spotlight Scripture- “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7
Goal- Is to teach us that the only person that can deliver us from our fears is Jesus Christ. He wants us to have faith instead of fear.
Introduction- We all are afraid of something, whether it is snakes, spiders, roaches, roller coasters, or just the dark; so I want to explain three secrets on how we can overcome ungodly fear.
A Quick Word
1. You Must Realize the Fact of Fear
A. Fear is very, very real and is not just an imagination.
B. There are over 700 different kinds of fear. Some people in the church have a fear of work.
C. Admit that there is such a thing as fear and that we all have them.
2. You Must Reckon with the Force of Fear
A. Fear is more than an emotion, fear is more than an effect. Fear is a spirit; a force that has the ability to affect both the mind and the body.
B. Fear can dominate a person. It does not matter if you are wealthy, powerful, or spiritual. You still have to fight with fear.
C. Many become a slave to fear. They allow fear to control them, their thoughts, and actions. Fear has paralyzed them and has put them in bondage and has become their master.
3. You Must Receive the Freedom from Fear
A. In the Bible, you will find the phase “fear not” over 100 times. That suggests that God wants us free from fear.
B. We have within us supernatural power to fight any foe, including the devil himself because “greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.”
C. We have the love of God to face any fear because love casts out fear. God has given us a sound mind to forsake any fear. A discerning mind allows us to see fear for what it really is.
How to Get Free From Fear
1. Admit your Fears
2. Activate your Faith
3. Acknowledge your Father
